Endodontic dentistry is the treatment for diseases of the pulp or root of the tooth.
The “nervous tissue“ in a tooth can either get hurt, e.g. after an accident or inflamed or infected, e.g. because of bacterias in a deep cavity. This can lead to intense pain and makes a root canal treatment necessary. Endodontic treatment can preserve a tooth and prevents the extraction of a tooth.
The goal of a root canal treatment is the complete removal of the pulpa from the root canal. Normally there are 1-5 root canals in every tooth. After a thorough cleaning and disinfection of the root canal to reduce bacteria, we are place a filling to seal the root canal. To provide optimal treatment conditions we use a device called a dental or rubber dam.
Thanks to the large magnification through the surgical microscope we can visualise clearly even complicated root canals or side canals. Electronic linear encoders and digital x-ray make the evaluation of length, bending and anatomic shape of a root canal easier than ever. After a successful endodontic treatment, your tooth can be preserved for years.
